What is the easiest, most user friendly ERP software to implement?

I have a software and hardware combination product. We ship around 250,000 boxes with software disc and cables a year. We outsource the manufacturing, assembly and shipping and are thinking about bringing this in house. I don't want to go overboard with an ERP system. I am looking for a small to midsized solution that will be up and running in a month and not cost a fortune to both set up, implement and maintain. I need top notch service to fix any issues immediately too. This may be a tall order, but that is what I need and can't afford to settle for less. Please share your experience.

How to I get into ERP, where do I start?

Hi I graduated in 2006 with a Bsc degree in Business Information Systems. I spent time studying ERP and EWS in my final year, along with Information Technology Strategic management so I have a background in this area. I spent 6 months on an internship working for Accenture which involved being a systems analyst and a year working in Stryker Orthopaedics in the technology sector. What I am doing right now is very networking/hardware orientated. And I have been advised to do some microsoft exams, is this the way to go or am I wasting my time concentrating on MCITP and CISCO CCNA etc when Im interested in ERP. I was talking to someone else and they were saying study Oracle and get the exams. Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

What is a reasonable cost for an ERP system?

We are a small company manufacturing ans distributing industrial measurement equipment on a global market. Our ERP system takes care of almost everything from customer orders, purchase and manufacturing planning, warehouse management and also a webstore. We live under the perception that we have been upsold on our ERP system; We think that we could manage with a much smaller solution to a lower cost. So my question is; What is a reasonable annual cost, in percentage of a company's turnover, for a complete ERP system?

Oil & Gas - What's best? SAP or ORACLE? Any views?

Both SAP and ORACLE have strengths and weaknesses in all horizontal and verticals but I've been trying to gain an appreciation as to which is better, from an all round perspective, for Oil & Gas - SAP or ORACLE? I work in the Middle East so I guess someone with a Middle Eastern view would help. Any thoughts appreciated. Simon
