The Value of Manufacturers and Distributors for Increasing Global Connectivity Among Multiple and Diverse Industries (Part III)

Having analyzed the first core requirements in the criteria of the judge panel in their review of Lawson’s efficient ERP manufacturing software product, we will now concentrate on the other prerequisites upon which the judges based their decision to award the two prestigious prizes mentioned previously for Lawson’s software and for its services to the manufacturing industry. In relation to the last point examined in the previous part of this article, “support” carries multiple definitions in the Internet Technology/ ERP Software industry.

Support for customers and business clients means including the delivery of training materials, regular updates and upgrades - especially 24/ 7 real-time, prompt response to customer queries, assurance of the proper maintenance of the ERP manufacturing software as well as its ability to attract new customers from multiple industrial sectors, among several other factors); The last point in the seven chosen criteria, is Marketing - this aspect also has many levels of implementation; among the most relevant, it involves determining how successful a customer company is in advertising its products or services and augmenting its market presence and expansion into the global market through the use of the multi purpose applications and user option tools provided by the ERP manufacturing software- and this is, of course, a perfect method for measuring the efficiency and multi- functional capabilities of any ERP manufacturing software.

The seventh point is a process which also involves the intricacies of the localization process as it is understood in the ERP industry. One of its basic definitions relates to its implementation as an indicator to measure whether the ERP manufacturing software bought by a customer is appropriate for either strictly local operations; locally confined market operations within a restricted geographic sector, or for global deployment.

Taking into account all the multiple definition that the term localization carries in the ERP/  Information & Internet technology industry, and how it is used in different contexts within all its varied stages of erp implementation, these definitions fall into several categories, the most important ones being the following: a) localization of the ERP manufacturing software user interface text and visuals into the ERP software to meet compliance with specific business objectives or market operations, b) the localization of the ERP system to adapt to market regulations business processes and industry standards in a specific foreign or multiple foreign market sectors, c) The localization of market strategies and business operations to expand either locally (thereby confining business practices to a single geographic market sector) - or globally, to fully expand in the international market arena and penetrate multiple foreign markets simultaneously, d) the term is also used to refer to the customization of an ERP manufacturing software (or other ERP solution designed for businesses in other industries) to deliver specifically designed solutions to suit the specific - or multiple depending on the case - business needs of the customer,  and, in connection to this, subsequently, e) it is also used in the context of localizing any customized revisions of the ERP manufacturing software which may be required by the customer over time.
