Finding Solutions with Process Distribution ERP Software
Process manufacturing and distribution is a bit more confusing than its discrete counterpart. It involves products that range from food and beverage, chemicals and paints, to prescription drugs. It demands a strong support base from manufacturing to distribution. It brings inventory into a streamlined production mode and provides data all along the production line tied to distribution, shipping and logistics. It can handle this with process distribution ERP software.
This is the software that will handle all of the needed applications such as raw materials, inventory, warehouse management, human resources, customer relationship management and accounting.
Enterprise software assists the manufacturer with every phase of the production and on to distribution. A history and tracking of formulas is provided, along with samples and customer feedback. Calculations are made based on the mixing and matching of ingredients and lots are assigned. A high priority here is for effective inventory management. Knowing exactly what’s needed and making sure that you have it in stock is of supreme importance; the locations of inventory and stock levels must always be kept up to date and monitored in real time.
The production schedule will demand that all materials requirements are met so that forecasts for batch allocations, processing of order groupings and the calendar schedule correspond. You can also address track sales projections based on purchase orders and production submissions. Quality control plays an especially important role throughout and upon completion of the production process and is also supported by process distribution ERP software.
Once the production is complete and quality control is assured, it’s time to get the product out the door and into the hands of the customer. This involves logistics that might include ground movement, container load, shipping and fulfillment. If your customer relationship management component is strong, you will have kept your customers in the loop and they will be able to track the movement of their orders as well. Enterprise resource planning means that every angle, every phase of the production and distribution channels are monitored from beginning to end.
Process manufacturing means dealing with a lot of raw materials. Because so much has to be mixed or combined for the right effect, it can be a more time consuming endeavor. It takes the right mix of ingredients, production equipment and human capital to pull it off successfully. And, of course, it takes the right software; as in process distribution ERP software.
