ERP SoftwareTop Ten ERP SoftwareIt is an accepted axiom that best ERP Software systems have been developed in order to integrate business data and information in such a way as to make businesses run more efficiently and effectively. In real terms, this means the ERP Software is enabling businesses to step up productivity, cut costs, and increase profit margins. Nonetheless, different companies will have different needs from an ERP software system depending on its size and the number of transactions it handles on a daily basis. That being said, it does not make it any easier to identify the Top Ten ERP Software on the market. Not every expert can agree on what are the Top Ten ERP Software systems available on the market right now. But all experts can agree on the best approach a business could take in order to discover what that answer is -as it applies to them. And, in order to begin this process, which is based on a data-analysis project comparing a company’s operational and technical requirements against the existing, viable ERP Software solutions on the market, a company should take the following criteria into account. There are ten steps that almost all leading experts agree on and they are as follows: 1) To define current business processes and requirements, 2) To conduct technical fit assessment, 3) To run a preliminary total cost of ownership analysis, 4) To follow up on Vendor Viability, 5) To evaluate vendors, 6) To Conduct Organizational and Business Readiness Assessment, 7) To complete a methodical implementation analysis and planning report, 8) To examine benefits realization plans, 9) To complete an analysis of the final vendors, and 10) To make a decision. Consulting groups have gone even further and established a set of parameters that will guarantee a company chooses an ERP software package from among those that make up the top ten for its size, industry, number of daily transactions, volume of orders, and potential for growth. A parameter that establishes short-listed vendors that suit your company is determined by the demo script you create. This will ensure that each vendor will demonstrate their product as it relates to your business processes. Software that cannot fulfill the key requirements should be eliminated -even if they promise to modify the existing features. And, while you will not get away without having to accept some customization, -no ERP software package is perfect for any one business, as is – this is completely different from being forced to change key requirements because they are not right from the beginning. Users from every department should be included in the demo part of the project. The chosen personnel should then have to evaluate the ERP product being tested according to how the product deals with the main business requirements of their particular department. And, the assessment should not be conscribed simply to functionality assessment. It should definitely include technical assessment, such as scalability, ability to integrate with legacy system, etc. When completed, these evaluations should provide managers and project leaders with a very valuable piece of information. After a company has arrived at a point where they have acknowledged which two or three software programs are on their Top ERP Software list, and the difference has perhaps come down to price –the next recommended step is to run the numbers through finance in order to calculate the ROI expected with each ERP package. Should these numbers have a significant variance, then a company should go with what is economically best. If there is no noticeable variance inn ROI, then a company should choose the vendor whose personnel best clicked. After all, when a company chooses ERP software, is it choosing a long-term partner. The better these “partners” get along and understand each other, the better the results. In conclusion, what does all this information do for a customer at this time taking ERP software investments into consideration? It means that the customers who choose right, who implement the ERP software system that will organize their operational structures and automate their processes all without creating a huge interruption to the business, will find themselves better positioned to head into the growing demands of a changing, global economy. |
