ERP Software

A Comparison of ERP Software

Are you thinking about implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)? If so, you should put together a team of staff members to help in making a comparison of ERP software. This is something that won’t happen overnight, so be prepared to do your homework. You will be checking out quite a bit of software product and need to have some idea in mind of what you’re looking for. There are all types of ERP packages to choose from, so try to narrow your list down to those which most closely relate to what you want to accomplish.

What industry are you in? Some of this software is industry specific though much of it can be applied across many industries. There are ERP packages that are designed for accounting, construction, distribution, manufacturing, marketing, engineering, and nonprofit organizations, real estate, government, transportation … So, what’s your pleasure? If you are a small business you should seriously consider a Web-based ERP package. It costs less, and you can be up and running in no time. These packages are also known as software as a service (SaaS) and cloud computing. These packages have worked well for many smaller businesses and are becoming increasingly popular.

Below, we take a look at a few ERP Web-based accounting software vendors and the type of packages they produce. These vendors represent but a small amount of the many vendors operating in the marketplace today. Still, a comparison of ERP software can be made. There are also consultants available to help you navigate the great number of software vendors marketing ERP products. When considering these software packages remember to keep in mind how flexible they are; and by all means, be sure to get a demo, so that you can see how the product performs. This demo should be performed at your business location.

NetSuite: Provides applications modules for accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, payroll, expense reporting, general ledger, and more.

Sage Accpac ERP: This is a popular accounting software package. Its applications modules include general ledger, multi-currency, inter-company transactions, order entry, purchase order, and more.

Microsoft Dynamics: This software giant offers a line of Dynamics integrated platforms that offer analytical accounting, cash flow management, bank reconciliation, general ledger, project accounting, e-banking, payroll, job costing, and more.

These are successful software vendors that produce popular products and are usually in any comparison of ERP software. Still, there are so many others to choose from.
