Microsoft and HP Join Forces

Last year Microsoft and HP joined forces in a three year alliance agreement.  The plan is that during the three years, Microsoft and HP will work together on IT projects to develop solutions.  Both companies have committed to spend two hundred and fifty million dollars on this project to create a series of appliances.  Today, the release of two of these new appliances was announced.  Appliances help customers more easily deploy and run Microsoft’s enterprise software solutions.  Microsoft entered the market as a fierce Enterprise Software Company years ago and have made huge strides to land themselves a spot on the list of the top five ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) vendors.

The appliances created by Microsoft and HP combine hardware, support, software and management.  These appliances are supposed to help customers more quickly and easily deploy Microsoft’s enterprise solutions like ERP and CRM.  Microsoft is hoping that they will crush the other Enterprise Software Companies they compete with by enhancing their solutions with these deploying appliances.  Currently, two appliances are ready to go today and the other two are planned to be released in a year or so.  The two appliances that are being released today are called HP Business Decision Appliance and HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance.  HP Business Decision Appliance it only supposed to take customers less than one hour to implement.  The cost for this appliance is twenty-eight thousand dollars.  This fee includes three years of support services from Microsoft and HP.  The HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance consists of many servers and storage modules with huge database capacities.  The price for the HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance is two million dollars.

The two appliances that will be released next year are called HP E5000 Messaging System and HP Business Data Warehouse Appliance.  The HP E5000 Message System Appliance will start at thirty-six thousand dollars.  The Business Data Warehouse Appliance will work with the Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance.  A fifth appliance is supposed to be release after the two mentioned above.  This appliance will be called HP Database Consolidation Appliance.  This private cloud database (as it has been termed) will enable customers to easily provision database services.  As a leading Enterprise Software Company, Microsoft (along with HP) predict that data warehousing and BI (business intelligence) sales will hit the roof by 2015.  And, they want their share of the market, which is expected to be worth fifty-five billion dollars.
