Oracle Plays the Enterprise Accounting Software Game Quite Well

It seems that Oracle has decided to lend a hand to fellow ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) giant SAP.  Oracle is releasing a new solution called Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP.  Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP is a module within the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Applications and its goal is to provide businesses running an SAP solution with a tool to gain more insight from that SAP solution.  More insight means improved profitability by elaborating on SAP’s financial analysis functionality without the big costs associated with a complete Oracle and SAP system integration.  Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP is packaged with Oracle BI Applications Release 7.9.7.  This solution is planned to be implemented at over two thousand five hundred customer sites located around the world.  I suppose one could say that Oracle is helping to improve SAP’s Enterprise Accounting Software solution.  Or, one could simply say that Oracle is playing the Enterprise Accounting Software and BI game quite well.  Whatever the case, Oracle is doing themselves a huge favor.

So, what exactly is this Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP Application going to do?  Well, the functionality will help c-level management folks with decision making, improve financial performance, and lower departmental expenses while increasing departmental profitability.   This functionality is provided by key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and extensive reporting capabilities.  Integration is prebuilt along with metadata mappings, which will help customers implement the solution in a timely manner.  All of this functionality and this solution comes at a time when the economy is trying to recover from a recent recession.  Many businesses don’t want to spend tons of money on an Enterprise Accounting Software or BI solution.  However, Oracle has done a good job with Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP by offering prebuilt technology and rapid implementation.  And, Oracle’s BI Applications don’t only come in financial form.  Oracle offers BI Applications for Human Resources, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Procurement, Order Management, Sales, Projects, Services, Marketing, and more.

It looks like Oracle Financial Analytics for SAP is Oracle’s way into SAP’s Enterprise Accounting Software solution market.  I’m sure Oracle is hoping that once SAP customers get a taste of Oracle, they’ll want more.  And, perhaps that will be the case.  That’s what free marketing is all about in this fierce economy where some businesses are having trouble surviving.
