SAP Is Like the Little Engine That Could

SAP, an Enterprise Software Company giant, had an amazing fourth quarter in 2010.  This Enterprise Software Company has recently been sued, put through fierce competition to earn customers, and continues to persevere like the little engine that could.  Although, we all know that SAP is no little engine because they are more like a thousand Mac trucks all put together when it comes to Enterprise Software Companies.  In fact, SAP has ruled the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) world since the 1990s leaving companies like Oracle in their dust.  Okay, not necessarily in their dust but I think you get the point.  SAP was quite happy when their fourth quarter preliminary sales results were announced.  SAP executives reported that the Enterprise Software Company even beat their own expectations.

So, what contributed to an impressive fourth quarter that is turning out to be the best quarter ever in the history of SAP?  Well, co-CEO McDermott says it’s related to customer growth.  Perhaps businesses have recovered from our recent economic recession, allowing them the capital to purchase an enterprise software solution.  Or, perhaps businesses have to gain a competitive edge to continue to survive in this economy and an enterprise software solution provides that edge.  Whatever the case, SAP’s stock skyrocketed six and a quarter percent after the fourth quarter announcement was made.

SAP’s executives say that the Enterprise Software Company will continue to focus on their customers, their strategies, and coming innovations in 2011.  However, SAP had better save all their pennies and dollars because they have to own up to their loss in a lawsuit brought on by Oracle.  Oracle, another giant Enterprise Software Company, sued SAP and won a whopping one point three billion dollar lawsuit, which slightly puts a damper on things for SAP.

It’s nice to see stocks soaring and companies prospering after our recent economic recession.  The recession took a toll on many Enterprise Software Companies and all businesses alike.  In fact, some Enterprise Software Companies went under while others were bought out by the likes of Oracle and Microsoft.  Perhaps this year (2011) is going to be the year of the Enterprise Software Company.  If businesses can afford to purchase the enterprise software solutions these companies make, something is right with the economy.  Cheers to the year 2011!
