Wholesale Distribution Software – part one

There are several vendors on the market that offer wholesale distribution software solutions. The vendor you select should have a wholesale distribution software solution that is well suited to your company’s needs.  Some things to keep in mind when shopping for wholesale distribution software solutions includes:
•    The vendor’s reputation.
•    The vendor’s history of working with companies like your own.
•    The functionality of the wholesale distribution software solution.
•    The way in which the wholesale distribution software solution is delivered.
The vendor’s reputation is always important because you will be forming a business partnership with the vendor when you purchase their wholesale distribution software solution.  Make sure that the vendor has similar company values and that you can easily work alongside the vendor.  It’s a good idea to make sure the vendor has experience with your type of company.   That way, the vendor knows all the ins and outs associated with your industry.  If you can talk to some of the vendor’s current customers, take advantage of it.

Functionality is one of the most important qualities of a wholesale distribution software solution.  After all, it is the functionality that will make your business more efficient and streamlined.  Before shopping wholesale distribution software solutions define the gaps in your current solution and decide what functionality you absolutely can’t live without.  Determine what functionality will fill those gaps in your current processes to make your company better.  It is often the most needed functionality that ends up offering a return on investment.  Try not to be sold on all the bells and whistles some solutions have to offer.

Wholesale distribution software solutions may offered as on-site proprietary solutions, on-site open source solutions, or software as a service (SaaS) solutions.  Customizations may be done with all types of solutions except for multi-tenant SaaS wholesale distribution software solutions.  Because you don’t have to implement a SaaS solution at your business site, these solutions tend to be less expensive to operate and maintain when compared to on-site solutions.  With SaaS solutions, the vendor operates and maintains the solution at a data center.  If you want a SaaS solution, but need customizations, consider a single-tenant SaaS wholesales distribution software solution.  Single-tenant solutions will most likely cost more than multi-tenant solutions, but they are still less than on-site solutions.
