ERP Inventory Management Software
Inventory can be right now, or just-in-time. But sometimes businesses get short sighted and lose track of their stock keeping units (SKUs). “I thought we had some of those left in stock.” Certainly you have heard that old refrain. Tracking and managing inventory isn’t always easy when you’re working with notebooks or inadequate software. It’s much easier when you are working with inventory management software supported by Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). With this software in place there will be no need for questions about what’s in stock, how much is in stock, and when you will need to order again.
Tracking stock keeping units (SKUs) needn’t be cause for headaches; but for some firms it is. Inventory is essentially a part of supply chain management. If you are in the manufacturing or distribution business, you realize how important it is to secure raw materials, components, and supplies in advance of a project. On the other hand, you may also be advised and informed of just-in-time delivery, which means you don’t need it until you need it. Still, you need to be working with a supportive software system that can communicate across the enterprise.
It’s not just the inventory department that needs to keep track of what’s in stock; other units may need an ongoing real time view of inventory status at all times, as well. Monitoring that status is not a problem if you are using the right software. ERP software gives you the full picture on where you stand at any given moment; and all designated staff can get a glimpse. That’s how smart inventory management software is. It can manage, track, monitor, discontinue, analyze, resource, report, and offer up business intelligence relative to positioning for a project and its needed supplies.
There are still companies that work from paper based information and data. But they too are slowly making the transition to the integrated, automated approach to doing business. It’s simply a smarter and more efficient way of working. ERP software offers a technological step up to more effective management administration. Even small outfits have the opportunity to deploy this software today, because of convenient Web-based packages that can be quickly implemented and cost less.
So, keeping on top of inventory or requests for certain stock keeping units (SKUs), should not present a problem when you are working with ERP and inventory management software. Check it out for yourself and see what a difference it makes.
