ERP Software

Reliable ERP Government & Public Administration Software

It stared out with business, but now it’s all over the place. I’m talking about Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). This software is a favorite of businesses, both large and small. It can be found in manufacturing, the retail trade, construction, distribution, marketing, transportation, Real Estate, and even in government. That’s right, ERP Government & Public Administration Software is quite common today, and it says something about the reach and power of this software solution. Take just a couple of America’s big cities and you’ll see what I mean. Microsoft now supplies and hosts ERP software for New York City; Google does the same for Los Angeles.

It’s not so unusual when you think about it, I mean governments have to process the same types of activities that businesses do. They have to deal daily with cash management, creating and managing budgets, creating analyzing and tracking reports, tracking costs for city services and coordinating Public Works projects. And let’s not forget about the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), which institutes and monitors standards to improve governmental accounting and financial reporting within state and local entities and that includes school districts too.

We’ve often heard of the term, big business; ERP takes that to a new level with big government.
Financial management is just as important to local and State governments as it is to the business community. Cost accounting, monitoring and tracking, has to be efficient and accurate. Operating expenses are constantly tracked and the General Ledger reviewed for accounts payable and receivable. And in today’s poor economic climate, cities are operating with less funding than they are used to. They need ERP government & public administration software
to keep them on track.

Local and State governments often allocate budgets for specific purposes. Just as in business, governments have many departments which are handling a number of tasks. They need an accounting platform that can provide them with a powerful bundled applications module that can handle a number of tasks at once. This software also has to be compliant with GASB regulations. The only software system that can rise to the occasion for government entities is enterprise software.

Enterprise resource planning is backed by a suite of applications modules that are designed to handle any number of business processing tasks. These modules can either be applied as stand-alone applications, or bundled. Instead of placing inventory, purchasing and distribution as stand-alone applications, they can be bundled together as supply chain management. That’s what ERP government & public administration software can do.
