Best ERP Solutions Based on Tier
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software solutions that are rated to be the “best” do not mean that they will be the best ERP solutions for your business. All businesses are unique and have very different needs. Recently, a survey was done to rate the best ERP solutions. Enterprise Resource Planning customers rated their Enterprise Resource Planning solutions based on benefits they have realized through the implementation and use of the ERP solution. The Enterprise Resource Planning customers surveyed implemented an ERP solution in the last four years and the survey consisted of sixteen thousand ERP customers. In the remainder of this article we are going to discuss the results of the survey and the best ERP solutions based on tier.
The best ERP solutions in the tier one category are SAP, Oracle, Oracle eBusiness Suite, Oracle JD Edwards, Oracle PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Dynamics. Tier one ERP software solutions is suited for large companies. In 2009 SAP held approximately thirty percent of the ERP market share and was the overall leader in the ERP market. In the same year, Oracle took control of twenty-five percent of the ERP market and Microsoft controlled three percent of the ERP market. However, Microsoft is new to the ERP game and is expected to earn more market share this year. It’s interesting to note that fifty percent of tier one implementations go over budget. This means that if you are planning a tier one implementation, you might want to consider expanding your budget. You don’t want to get caught without enough capital to complete an implementation in this down economy.
The best ERP solutions in the tier two category are Epicor, Sage, Infor, IFS, QAD, Lawson, and CDC Software. Tier two ERP software solutions usually suit medium sized companies with approximately one hundred users. These Enterprise Resource Planning solutions cost much less to implement when compared with a tier one solution due to the size and nature of the implementation.
The best ERP solutions in the tier three category are ABAS, Activant Solutions, Bowen and Groves, Compiere, Exact, NetSuite, Visibility, CGS, Hansa World, Consona, and Syspro. Tier three ERP software solutions usually suit smaller companies with thirty users or less. These ERP solutions typically cost the least to implement as they don’t offer the robust functionality or number of modules offered by a tier two or tier one ERP solution.
