The Importance of Small and Mid Market ERP Solutions
No matter what size business you have you are faced with customer requirements, compliances, regulations, costs control, and managing your supplies. In the past small and medium sized businesses relied on manual processes and applications that were not integrated. However, times have changed and small ERP software solutions have evolved to ride to the rescue of these small and medium sized businesses. Actually, ERP vendors didn’t create small ERP software solutions to rescue small and medium sized businesses. They did it to benefit themselves because the enterprise market was petering out. No matter why ERP vendors now focus on small and medium size ERP solutions, the fact is that these solutions are essential to survive the future. Small ERP software solutions are especially essential to those small companies that are planning to grow big. If small companies don’t have the infrastructure to support and prepare for growth, then potential growth may end up in disaster. For example, before a community is built pipelines are installed, roads are built and communications lines are laid. The infrastructure of the community is completed before the community grows in population. This concept is very similar to business growth. A small ERP software solution will lay the groundwork or infrastructure for growth. However, some small ERP software solutions don’t enable the type of growth a company expects or plans. So, be diligent when it comes to selecting an ERP software solution. Choose one that provides enough robust functionality to allow for expected growth. The same goes for medium sized companies as far as selecting an ERP software solution. If you are a medium sized shop planning to expand, select an ERP software solution that will expand with you. The worst possible scenario would be to have to purchase a whole other ERP software solution because the one you selected doesn’t allow for growth. This will only cost you time, resources, and money that need not be spent in this down economy. Because we are in a down economy it is important to implement an ERP software solution to replace your manual processes and applications that are not integrated. If you want the most bang for your buck then you need to be efficient. Efficiency saves money down the road. While you might have to shell out some extra cash for your ERP solution, you will save big time in the future.
