Take the time for an ERP Software Review
Enterprise Resource Planning is ever popular and gaining ground. But before you decide to join the fray, be sure to do an ERP software review. There are a lot of companies working in this marketplace and it’s very important that you take the time to make a proper and detailed accounting of what’s on offer. If yours is a small or midsized company you will more than likely be looking into Web-based options. These are less expensive and can be implemented in a short period of time. Think about your business and about the number of applications you might need.
This software can be applied one module at a time or you can apply a suite of applications modules at once. But before you do the review, do your homework. Prepare a detailed plan about what you are seeking, so that when you talk to software vendors, they will have some idea of your needs. Having a plan will help the vendor to better serve you. There will be a lot to discuss too. Going with ERP means changing the way you do business. So take your time before you take the leap.
It’s also smart to ask about what other companies have done. See if you can talk to some customers of vendors to see how they have adapted to the software system. And of course you’ll want to see demos. You’re going to run across a lot of names, some of which you may be familiar with. There will be many you probably have never heard of. Still, take your time; don’t be in a rush. With Web-based options you can narrow your list down much quicker. But beware, that many vendors may just be moving to the Web because they see its potential; they know that more and more companies are opting for a Web-based package as they do their ERP software review.
The applications modules can handle such tasks as accounting and finance, sales and marketing, inventory control, purchasing and procurement, supply chain management, project management, customer relationship management, manufacturing, the warehouse, and more. You’ll also have links to your partners and suppliers. This is your one stop communications hub where all staff can find what they need to transact business.
Once you’ve found what you’re looking for and you are pleased with the selection, you will realize that you have done a good ERP software review.
