ERP Software

Enterprise Software Solutions

ERP is defined Enterprise Resource Planning for business management.  ERP software solutions unite the major business processes of a company, guaranteeing the data used in every functional operation will be accurate and reliable.  These solutions oversee and manage functions such as marketing, sales, production, inventory control, procurement, distribution, financials, and human resources.  For years it was only possible for large enterprises in the manufacturing sector to enjoy the advantages of Enterprise Software Solutions, but now there are solutions on the market to fit any size enterprise from within any industry.

Any business hampered by data from multiple sources that cannot be integrated will benefit from an ERP software solution.  Any business losing profit because employees are wasting time duplicating entries will benefit from an ERP software solution. Any business keeping track of inventory in more than one warehouse will benefit from an ERP software solution. Any business unable to keep up with purchasing, production, and distribution of its goods will benefit from an ERP software solution.  Any business with global, or even multi-state, branches will benefit from an ERP software solution.

That being said, there are still questions about ERP software solutions that need to be answered by a company thinking of purchasing such a system.  In the past, businesses had to ask whether a specific ERP software package would help solve their specific needs because traditional ERP software came with built in best practices which might have impeded operations.  Within the past decade, more and more ERP software solutions have been designed to be customized by the individual business. This has allowed companies to create unique applications and uses.

The cost of ERP software is still a valid concern. Most systems are expensive to buy and expensive to implement. Businesses have attempted to circumvent this problem by instead acquiring SaaS solutions which do not require upfront product licensing fees. The savings represented by this type of ERP can then be used to offset possible implementation and staff training costs.

The best Enterprise Software Solutions allow a business to upgrade without much cost or effort.  For example, Compiere is an example of a vendor whose products can be customized at the time of purchase but will still accept later customization and add-ons without impacting the migration process.

Traditional ERP software was not designed to handle the intricacies of a company which does business on a global scale. Today, however, there are Enterprise Software Solutions capable of  managing multi-currency, multi-tax, multi-accounting, and multi-organization functionalities in multi-languages!  These solutions can effortlessly handle varying business processes from all over the world.
