ERP Software

Enterprise Resource Planning Company

Enterprise Resource Planning is a means of combining the functions of each department within a business into a seamless whole that will allow for inter-department data sharing, and this, in turn, will allow for better decision making and better follow up.  Often, Enterprise Resource Planning will encompass numerous workings together with hardware and software.

Prior to the advent of ERP, attempts to consolidate these functions and procedure had not worked.  Each department ran on its own software and the systems did not provide access to any other department. Clearly, ERP –with its ability to allow all elements to be centralized and easily accessed- was poised to make available a much needed benefit to businesses.

There are many ERP software companies in today’s market. Some are well-known major organizations like IBM and Microsoft. Others are smaller, ERP specific, vendors. Although the main role of an ERP company is to develop unique, software tools to help businesses run more efficiently and more profitably, a full service company will also install and maintain their ERP software.

The idea of ERP is not difficult to grasp, but putting it into practice is not always easy. That’s because there are so many versions of ERP and every Enterprise Resource Planning Company sells a different version.  As a result, businesses in the market for enterprise resource planning struggle to find the right software solution, from the right provider AND at the right price.

With so many businesses hoping to buy ERP, either new systems or a better system, an enterprise resource company must find innovative ways to stand out. That is why companies are marketing themselves as specialists. Some companies are concentrating on ERP software for medical institutions, some are concentrating on solutions for Non-Profits, some are designing just for retail businesses, others are single-mindedly developing applications for the food and beverage industries, while still others are keeping the focus on the original purpose of ERP which was the manufacturing industry.

In other words, there are countless vendors on the market, offering a variety of ERP solutions each claiming theirs is best or most cost-effective. And, industry is not the only criterion to be considered. Size is another defining characteristic. Thus, a business needs to look for an enterprise planning resource company which sells software for its specific industry and for its specific size.

In a global world of varying product, it is clear there can be no “one size fits all” best answer for the enterprise resource planning company.
