Manufacturing ERP in Cleveland – Part 2

Cleveland, Ohio is one of the largest homes to industrial manufacturers in the United States.  Ohio is doing their best to grow industry across the state.  To do so, they offer many incentive programs to businesses.  One such program is called the Ohio Industrial Training Program (OITP).  The OITP offers assistance to businesses through grants, which are meant to reimburse the cost of training employees. The more incentives the state offers, the more likely businesses will call Ohio home.  With this in mind, it is likely that there will be a boom in the state and the need for manufacturing ERP in Cleveland will grow.  So, who will meet the demand for manufacturing ERP in Cleveland?  Well, there are the popular manufacturing ERP vendors like Epicor, SAP, Syspro, Sage, Oracle, Infor, and Plex.  However, there are hundreds of other manufacturing ERP vendors that you will need to research.

As you may know manufacturing ERP is a module within an ERP solution.  For example, besides Oracle’s manufacturing module, they have a Supply Chain Management module, a Financials module, a Human Capital Management module, and so on.  Typical functionality in a manufacturing module enables you to plan manufacturing activities, control billing, plan for the right amount of labor, plan for the right amount of materials, plan for machinery needed, automate planning, track production, control production, and all other task related manufacturing jobs.

When selecting a manufacturing ERP in Cleveland, consider all the different delivery methods.  For example, you may select an on-site manufacturing ERP solution, a SaaS (Software as a Service) manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning solution, or even an open source manufacturing ERP solution.  SaaS is software that is delivered over the internet and is growing in popularity. The implementation time is fast and there are no large upfront investment costs.  However, this type of solution does not work for all businesses especially if they are unique as customizations can’t be performed.  On-site manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning solutions are pricier, but once you buy the license it is yours to do as you wish with.  Open source solutions are becoming more widespread; however, many businesses aren’t quite ready to go down that path.  Whatever solution you choose, make sure it works for your business model.  Spend the necessary time to investigate as many manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning solutions as you can before you choose one.
