ERP SolutionsSaying “I Do” to Your ERP solutionEnterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions can be rather enchanting. When you’re looking for that perfect ERP solution, it’s like looking for a partner to marry. You compare ERP solutions as you might compare potential partners. You might compare ERP functionality as you would compare interests and assets of a potential mate. As we all know, it’s not very nice to voice our comparisons about our potential partners or mates, however, it is essential to compare ERP solutions out loud. Choosing to marry is a very big step in life. Choosing an ERP solution is also a very big step. Before you select the perfect Enterprise Resource Planning solution for your business, compare ERP solutions until you’re blue in the face. Like a marriage, an ERP solution is a big commitment. You’re committing your finances, resources, and the future of your business to the ERP solution you choose once you’ve completed your comparison. Enterprise Resource Planning solutions are big investments and should be long term solutions very much like a marriage. Divorcing your ERP solution can cost you big time just like divorcing your spouse can drain you dry. There will be pain and suffering as you don’t reap any return on your investment due to the Enterprise Resource Planning divorce. So, why might you divorce your ERP solution? Well, probably because you didn’t compare ERP solutions. Or, you didn’t compare these solutions with enough detail. Perhaps, you didn’t know your business model and where your weaknesses were so the ERP solution never really solved or automated anything. Whatever the case, one big way to avoid an ERP divorce is to spend time looking at all ERP solutions. Wouldn’t it be great if we could demo a marriage? We could get married (although it wouldn’t be for real) and pretend to be married for a couple of months to see if we like it. If we don’t like it, we just walk away like the marriage never happened. We would essentially “give marriage a try”. Well, we can demo ERP solutions and should be doing so. Go to Enterprise Resource Planning vendor websites and you’ll find that most of them provide demos or even free trials. You can “give ERP solutions a try”. If you don’t like the ERP solution, you just walk away like in a pretend marriage. If you like the ERP solution, you can officially say “I do”. |
