Predicting the Future with ERP Solutions

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions can make accurate predictions based on real-time data.  We all want to predict the future, so why not do so with an ERP solution?  How do ERP solutions predict the future you ask?  Well, for example, most ERP solutions come with reporting capabilities that enable you to print reports based on your customers.  You might want to query the customer that spends the most money and predict how much money they will spend this quarter based on how much they’ve spent the last ten quarters.  Or, perhaps you want to query the customer that complains the most and predict that they are more trouble than they are worth.  Perhaps you rent warehouses and you want to see what product you sell the most so that you can predict how much of that product to store.  There are many advantages of ERP solutions and predicting the future is one of my favorite.

There are several other advantages of ERP solutions.  ERP systems have multiple modules of functionality that can automate just about any task.   ERP functionality affects all companies differently based on how they use the functionality.  For example, if you’re a Lollipop manufacturer, you might use an Enterprise Resource Planning system to keep track of how many lollipops you manufacture per day.  Or, you might use ERP to keep track of the best selling gum drop product that you manufacture.

Another one of the several advantages of ERP solutions is that they almost make you standardize your business processes.  Continuity breeds success.  ERP solutions can help you meet all regulatory requirements.  For example, if you’re in the food industry you’ll have to abide by federal and state regulations.  Food ERPs are built to do just this.  It’s also typical for ERP vendors to build their Enterprise Resource Planning solutions around best practices.  Best practices are a set of rules or guidelines that enable businesses to automate their business processes effectively and efficiently.  A set of best practices is like a guidebook because it enables you to be guided through implementation processes, task automation processes, upgrade processes and so on.  Best practices offer ERP customers several advantages.

If you’re still not sure about the advantages of ERP systems or how your business specifically could take advantage of an ERP system, go to the Enterprise Resource Planning vendor websites.  Vendor websites offer ample information.  I personally like to read customer reviews.  They can be quite graphic though so be prepared for some rated R reviews.  Demo the ERP solution after you’ve defined your needs.  That way you can measure the advantages of an ERP solution for your business.
