ERP Software

Accounting Software Systems and ERP

I think it’s fair to say that accounting software systems today are a dime a dozen. That’s not necessarily true, but there sure is plenty in the marketplace to choose from. The only question is your particular needs, or requirements. Once you have established that then you can go about checking out software vendors, whether proprietary or open source. If you’re a small firm, you have some great options that are available to you that can give you the presence of a larger company. And Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) can certainly increase your reach and competitiveness.

ERP accounting software is becoming more and more, the go to answer for business accounting solutions. You can have a dedicated accounting module or, one in which other parts of the business are included as well. This would mean that such operating units as planning, finance and accounting, and marketing and sales, are all included into one, single management system.

There are multiple types of accounting software systems. Some would probably argue that there is certainly no denying that truth. Problem is, how do you determine which one is best for you? It is not something you want to rush into quickly, for fear of making the wrong choice. For example, take a look at the companies listed below. They are well known, but they represent just a sliver of the overall market for accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Microsoft has joined the enterprise market in a big way with applications for accounts payable and receivable, consolidations and allocations, currency an cash management, accounting for assets and inventory, just to name a few. Microsoft Dynamics AX is popular in the marketplace.

Made2Manage offers an accounting software option which includes tools for managing customer orders, and sales, inventory and raw materials, job orders, quotes and estimates given to customers. M2M is built on a Microsoft platform and it can be used with any Windows program.

Salesforce.com is a major player when it comes to Enterprise Software Vendors. It’s found great success in “cloud computing,” whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices, like the electricity grid. It’s new “Chatter” product is also popular with companies.

Finding accounting software systems that are appealing is not so difficult. But many of these software packages work differently than others, with some offering benefits and features that others don’t. That’s why it is especially important for you to take your time in finding a package that works best for you.
