ERP SystemsApparel ERPERP systems is software tools which ensures that a business runs as efficiently as possible because they integrate all the basic functions of a specific venture, regardless of how that business is organized or what it produces. Businesses look to ERP vendors to design products which will add to their individual profit margin by providing unique software to organize, manage, and run their organizations in a way that will increase both productivity and earnings. Every business is searching for the ERP system that best applies to it, and finding it can be quite a challenge. The goal of ERP vendors, on the other hand, is to come up with added applications specifically intended to help each type of business. Apparel business, sometimes termed Textiles Industry, Clothing Industry, Fashion Industry, or Garment Industry, is what designs, manufactures, markets, and licenses brands for clothing, footwear, and accessories. In the middle of signs the economy may be recovering, businesses are getting ready to react by looking for ways to improve their operational efficiency and to meet strategic business goals. As a result, the apparel business is once again paying attention to Apparel ERP solutions. The apparel business is different from other manufacturing. In order to survive, they have to manage diverse inventories (women’s wear, shoes, bags, sleepwear, men’s suits, swimwear, etc) and continue to invest in their strongest brands at the same time as they launch new lines and respond promptly to altering consumer tastes. In addition, they either have to manage their global investments or prepare to expand internationally. Apparel ERP’s software system contains all the functions of manufacturing ERP, but has added functionality needed by the industry. For example, this software manages raw material and trim purchasing, costing, bill of materials, production, order management, embroidery and screen printing, and export and import management. A case study of an apparel business with retail, wholesale, and e-commerce distribution networks which implemented apparel ERP shows that after the software was launched, the business was immediately able to better utilize warehouse space by controlling inventory overflow. More importantly, the business no longer had to manage separate inventories and orders for the different distribution networks. Apparel ERP allowed the business to process orders through a central system enabling a single view of all inventory. The software additionally allowed the business to modify its method of filling orders – now, the business is better prepared to locate and ship the merchandise for large wholesale orders while the cart picking method is reserved for much smaller orders. |
