ERP SoftwareOpenbravo ERP FeaturesFor those of you who are familiar with Openbravo, you know that it is an open source ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution. In this article we are going to dicuss some of Openbravo’s features. The nice thing about open source ERP solutions is that you get two versions of the code; the compiled version and the un-compiled version. Having both versions of the code enables you to customize Openbravo quite easily. Oepnbravo can be used with one server or several servers. You can have ten users or thousands of users. And, you can deploy Openbravo to your international offices. Tweaking Enterprise Resource Planning features is easily done with Openbravo. This way, you can customize all, some, or no ERP features to your specific business. There are no two businesses alike, which means that there is no one ERP solution that will suit multiple businesses in every way without some kind of customization. You don’t have to add new functionality to Openbravo because you can simply configure functionality to meet your needs. An important ERP feature is to have proper auditing and controls built-in, which Openbravo has. For example, if Mr. John Doe logged on to the system and deleted a file he shouldn’t have, there will be an audit with information on the last version of the deleted file and the person who deleted the file. Another ERP feature provided by Openbravo is assigning roles to users. For example, you have a user that needs to update purchase order information but, you don’t want this user to be able to see the general ledger so you assign the user permission to certain pieces of functionality. You can assign these permissions to a specific role, which is assigned to the user upon login. You can also assign users with read-only or edit permissions. If you want a user to see a document, but not modify the document then that user is assigned a read-only privilege through Openbravo. Perhaps you have a user that speaks Spanish only. You can enable pages in English to be translated to Spanish for this user. Openbravo provide multi-lingual capabilities, which is typical of many ERP solutions and becoming a required Enterprise Resource Planning feature as the world evolves into a global economy. Openbravo may not be the answer to all your prayers. But, don’t write it off without checking it out. You may be pleasantly surprised. |
