ERP Softwares

ERP Software, Sacramento

There’s no doubt that the current job market in the United States is sluggish. And there’s no doubt that the technology sector has been hit just as hard as many other sectors in terms of slowed growth and limited hiring. But conduct a simple internet search using the words “ERP software, Sacramento”, and you may be surprised at the number of job offerings available in this capital city. When it comes to ERP software, Sacramento has no lack of access to expertise. And in terms of jobs related to support and implementation of ERP software, Sacramento may be the place to start searching if you need work and are willing to relocate.

During the two decade history of ERP software, Sacramento software retailers and business technology consultants have witnessed the appearance and evolution of the earliest MRP integrated manufacturing platforms. This was followed by the revision of planning functions and the shaping of business management tools that led to the first non-manufacturing enterprise resource planning systems. During the next chapter in the story of ERP software, Sacramento and other cities along the west coast technology corridor witnessed the rush to implement new business solutions during the approach of the millennium.

Now that the millennium transition has long since passed and most large enterprise level Fortune 500 businesses that want ERP solutions have them, the next stage is beginning in the evolution of ERP software. Sacramento and the rest of the nation’s technology heavy communities are observing as large established ERP providers turn their attention downstream to smaller and mid-sized businesses. Many industry sectors like apparel, construction, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and others are recognizing a need for unified software platforms. The streamlined functionality, improved efficiency and increased revenue offered by ERP systems are appealing to small business owners who rely on their software programs for accounting, HR and payroll functionalities.

The future offers many possibilities for both these small business owners and for the ERP software providers, consultants, developers and dealers who stand to support them. But much remains to be seen in terms of how this small business market share will be distributed. To remain competitive, large providers are in the process of customizing and scaling down their product suites to appeal to clients with smaller budgets. Meanwhile, new startup ERP providers are appearing on the landscape who can offer more affordable solutions that are better tailored to specific industry sectors. Freeware and opensource solutions are also an option for business owners who can download them at no cost at all. And hosting solutions now offer the option of renting space and running applications from shared servers.  Possibilities abound for small business owners who want software systems that keep them competitive and help them grow.
