Which ERP Solutions are on Top?

Now that we all know that the top ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions are made by Oracle, SAP, Microsoft and Sage, let’s discuss each of these solutions in more detail. The content for the remainder of this article will include information on these solutions, the advantages of these solutions and the disadvantages of these solutions.

Oracle offers a complete package of ERP modules made for just about any kind of business.  Their Financial module is one of their strongest modules and features in-depth, robust functionality.  What’s nice about Oracle’s ERP solutions is that you can choose to only purchase one module, two modules, or basically any number of modules you like.  You don’t have to buy the entire ERP, which is very expensive.  Picking selected modules saves you time and money.  Some advantages to using an Oracle solution are; easy to customize software, effective customer support system, web enabled applications, and a proven track record for return on investment.  A disadvantage to using an Oracle solution involves database affiliation issues.

Microsoft offers several top ERP products, which include Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. These ERP solutions include finance functionality, supply chain functionality and customer relationship functionality.  Advantages to using this top ERP software includes; software security is tight, real-time data ability, global platform offerings, easy to implement, same look and feel as other Microsoft products, easy data migration, and flexible and highly customizable functionality. A disadvantage to using Microsoft’s ERP solutions is that the functionality and the modules aren’t as diverse as those offered by Oracle.

SAP has been a strong competitor in the ERP market for years.  They’ve developed their system from the ground up without acquiring functionality from other companies or solutions.  SAP is a top ERP competitor with a top ERP solution.  They compete fiercely with Oracle on the worldwide market front.  One big advantage of SAP’s ERP solution is that it is ultra flexible.  However, some see this flexibility as a disadvantage because it enables customers to mess things up in a big way.

Sage’s ERP solution is a top ERP because it operates with Windows 2000 and Windows 2003.  Windows users love this aspect of Sage’s ERP solution.  Sage offers a lower cost ERP solution, which is another much loved aspect.  Advantages for Sage’s ERP include; cost is lower than competitors, in-depth functionality, user friendly interface, and easy configuration processes.  The disadvantages include expensive maintenance costs and long implementation times.
