ERP SoftwareERP and Contractor Accounting SoftwareContractor accounting software supported by an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform is a great tool, especially for those who have been working with bits and pieces of different software. Many contractors today are finding that they now need something more than that and are taking the ERP approach. They have noticed that the software packages they have been working with no longer seem to do the job as well. Something has changed. The workload, the data streams, the number of increasing contacts between suppliers, clients, subcontractors and the company's own employees makes the old system seem outdated. The construction industry is composed of many small and midsized companies; they generally use accounting packages such as Peachtree accounting software or QuickBooks pay the bills and work up financial scenarios. But when and as business picks up and revenue increases, they find that they are not equal to the task. There becomes a greater concern about generating contracts, managing change orders, subcontracts, purchase orders, and all the other things involved in managing a construction project. It usually takes a consultant or perhaps someone in the office to realize that the administrative software tools being used are not integrated and no longer adequate for the company’s needs. They have been importing data into various software packages that don’t communicate as one - such as accounting software and scheduling software - and wasting time moving back and forth between the two. Wise contractors then start thinking about kicking it up a notch and moving to the next level. They want to work with smarter business practices that will better coordinate job scheduling, volume purchasing, greater productivity, and an increased bottom line. These contractors at some point come to find out about Contractor accounting software and the power of an ERP supported system. Such a system can be implemented as software as a service (SaaS), with everything needed delivered through a Web based convenient, easy to use interface. All applications are integrated and applied as modules that represent every process necessary for the conduct of business operations. The accounting module for example, would include: • General Ledger: General Ledger Consolidations: G/L Consolidations gives you the ability to merge and transaction information between separate entities, internally and externally. • Reporting: You will need to be able to produce custom reports ‘on the fly’, including: • Consolidation: Being able to see the accounting and financial needs across the enterprise and allocate funds accordingly. • Cost Efficiencies: Being able to see all expenditures and receivables in real time and to make adjustments where required. Find an ERP Contractor accounting software package that will scale up with your company as it grows.
