And that’s a smart thing to do, because there are so many enterprise software packages and so many vendors offering them, it is important to a thorough review before moving forward with any erp vendor. Indeed, a big part of the process is selecting the right vendor to work with; and there are many of them. As a business, a big part of your responsibility is to do your homework. In order to find a system that works best for you, you will need to do a serious review of all of the vendors that most closely match your particular needs.

Once your business has a clear understanding of how it wants to administer its operations, then it can go about talking to vendors and finding the partner to implement the plan. There are lots of small and midsized companies implementing ERP today, so take the time to seek some of them out and learn of their experience in selecting an enterprise software vendor. Of course, along with any review, is the attendant demo; so make sure you see a number of them before making a selection. And by all means, don’t jump to conclusions. You want to choose the right platform that works best for you, but you also want to make sure that the vendor is one that you are comfortable working with and can grow with in the future.

It’s important that you assign a group of people to this task. They will need to talk to other businesses that have implemented ERP and ask for their feedback. This can be done before you make your initial vendor contacts. Just ask around, and see who is presently utilizing the software system. That shouldn’t be too difficult to find out, as many companies are making the transition to enterprise software. Once you begin contacting vendors be sure to ask them arrange for you to talk to some of their clients so that you can learn of their experiences with the software applications and tools. There are numerous ERP vendors out there and you need to take your time making an assessment of them. That’s what ERP reviews are for.

You are going to hear some familiar names, but don’t let that get in the way of your needs. No one company controls the market and many of the smaller vendors are enjoying great success serving small and midsized businesses. Customer service is important, so find out how well the vendor responds to your questions, and your concerns, because this will clue you in to how well they will service your account. Once you have indicated to them what your needs are and how you would like to apply the software, they will be in a much better position to help you implement the type of platform you desire.
