The Recent Developing Trend of “Befriending” or Enhancing Friendliness Between Vendors and Buyers of ERP Software Solutions and Multiple Industries Through the Innovative Applications and User Options Provided by Social Media Sites. ERP Software SolutionsFurther Considerations On the Multiple Advantages and Benefits Which Vendors of ERP Software Solutions and their Customers Can Derive by “Linking” or Connecting their Existing Accounts to the Various Popular Social Media Outlets (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, and others)- Including Blog Sites and Online Discussion Forums.(Part III)Continuing our analysis from the previous article on the advantages of TWITTER for vendors of erp software solutions, using the example of famous football center field Dwight Howard, in a recent review ESPN sports magazine followed the daily “Tweeting” routine of the sports champion, analyzing his “Tweeting” frequency and the enthusiastic response of the fans who follow his Tweets, interviewing him and the fans to determine what makes Twitter so special to his Tweet followers. It again appears evident from this study that TWITTER has a high capacity as a “befriending” tool which is based on personal interaction rather than just as a networking outlet used to acquire a larger fan base of followers for promoting purposes, and its advantages, in this respect, are qualitative rather than quantitative. It is not just about exposure but direct interaction and interchange of information between the user and his followers. In some cases the celebrity may invite individual fans to attend or meet him at a particular event, and also respond to personal Tweets by fans. In fact, citing the words of Howard in this regard, “the way I speak makes people feel they know me personally…When I meet them, they come right out and say: ‘hey man, we've been talking on Twitter.’ It's like we’re real friends.” According to another sports star, Chad Ochocinco, who together with Shaquille O’Neal spearheaded this practice of connecting with fans when they began using Twitter in 2008, “Twitter gives us our leverage back. Before it, the only side of athletes people saw was the one the media presented. Now we can show fans who we really are. People respond to that.” One can only imagine the enormous benefits of having the CEO of a company address and interact directly with customers- also responding personally to customer queries- through the use of Twitter and multiple other social media sites, forums and discussion blog spots. Evidently, very valuable insight can be gathered by the above assertions for companies selling erp software solutions. Following the above example of Dwight Howard and his observations on how the use of twitter changes and transforms in a more positive manner the relationship between fans and their celebrities, the same successful model could be adapted in the erp industry if the CEO of a company providing erp software solutions himself, directly and personally interacted with his customers through TWITTER, instead of relegating such a task to his managers or a specific company department (assuming the practice of using social media sites is employed by said parties). This would have the same effect on his customer base as in the case of Howard Dwight and his fans /Tweet followers, since hearing directly from the head of a company has several positive results: such as increasing the level of transparency and visibility into the affairs of the erp vendor’s corporate board (thus ensuring a high standard of corporate responsibility and accountability to shareholders, business clients and partners, employees and their customer base). |
