Comparing the Characteristics of the most popular Social Media sites to Determine which Among them Offers the Best Means of Exposure for Vendors of ERP Software Solutions ERP Software SolutionsThe impact of Popular Social Media Sites like Youtube, Facebook , Twitter and Myspace on the ERP industry and the Promotion of ERP Software Solutions (Pt. II)The natural value of the social media sites for the promotion of erp software solutions is evident in their networking aspect, which is ultimately the main focus of the multipurpose functions in the software programs and applications that these social media sites are based on. And of course it must be remembered that these social media sites also utilize erp software solutions to run their programs. Other additional benefits are related to the cost risk factor; because it is a primary concern for most companies as well as individual users- and especially for small businesses and start ups, which logically may have a reduced profit margin and have to deal with extreme competition in the marketplace- these social media websites offer the major benefit of being completely free, for the use of their basic services and for setting up an account. In addition there are other services for which one can sign up to promote the company’s products and services and its visibility of the global market stage, and many businesses from the most varied and multiple industries have already begun to adopt such an approach, including vendors of erp software solutions. These services require a fee, but they are all relatively inexpensive for the individual subscriber. In the case of a corporate body such as a company, organization, and a partnership or merger in particular, the benefits of signing up for these extra services are definitely greater than may be expected. The advantage lies in the fact that these bigger players can afford the more expensive fee-based advertising options which the individual subscriber or average Internet user may be unable to for obvious financial reasons. The way in which this promotion is done is definitely very cost-effective, and is carried out in three general steps. Youtube, for example (as is the case for the majority of social media and other networking sites) allows the subscriber to choose between the cheapest or most expensive promotional services. So, at the minimal cost of $20, a subscriber can sign up for a service which will increase the visibility of the video that he or she has uploaded, pushing it further up the pages of the results from the search engine tool of the website. An innovative feature proper to Youtube, is the fact that in the sign up process Youtube allows the subscriber to decide how much to charge per video click- that is, every time somebody views the video being promoted. The user may choose to charge, let us say, 20 cents per video hit. This is automatically deducted from the $20 fee paid by the subscriber, and the promotional service continues until the $20 limit amount has been reached- in other words, after the video has been viewed 100 times. Or, the user may decide to extend the advertising or promotional campaign and renew the service depending on how successful the results are, or switch to the other more costly services and marketing strategies provided by Youtube, which will ensure a higher level of visibility. |
