As explored in the previous article, online blogs and discussion forums appear in the search results of any search engine when an individual, professional or corporate entity google searches the answer to a particular question. This is in effect, the real value of such blogs and forums because they are open to the public at large and aid in the global dissemination of technological data and expertise concerning ERP systems and erp software solutions, including how to operate them. It should be duly noted that Youtube is one of those big media and social media outlets which also fits this category, thanks to the growing number of instructional videos uploaded by professionals and individual companies to promote their products. This group also includes, of course, the big vendors of erp software solutions such as SAP, Sage and their affiliates, among others. The latter, in fact, have begun using Youtube, Facebook, the other big networking outlets, and also the less popular social blogs and networking forums in order to provide technical support and customer assistance; and especially in order to reach as many Internet users as possible- including those who do not possess a sufficient level of Internet expertise to set up accounts with the other bigger popular social media outlets.

How Companies Can Enhance the Promotion of their ERP Software Solutions Through the Use of Popular Social Media Sites like Youtube, Facebook , Twitter and Myspace, and Through Less-Known Social Media Networks Such as Blogs and Discussion Forums (Part II)

Determining the Skill Level of the Average Internet user/Subscriber: How the Use of Both the Popular Social Media and the Less-known Blog sites/ Forums Can Help Vendors of ERP Software Solutions Expand their Customer Base and Reach as Many Customers or Subscribers from the Various Skill Level Groups.

A primary explanation for this strategy of expansion, especially as far as concerns Youtube, is the skill level and technical expertise which are deemed necessary for accessing and using the multiple functions of the popular social media sites, which definitely require a higher internet user skill level than the subscribers of social blogs and discussion forums. In effect, the prerequisites for running efficiently all the multiple applications of the biggest social media outlets- especially Myspace or Youtube which require a slightly more advanced internet skill level than even Twitter or Facebook- include not only knowing how to set up a page or individual account, and uploading text, audio or visual data, but also require the technical know-how necessary for uploading videos; something which not every Internet user has the appropriate skills to do. In most cases, in fact, depending on the video file, the subscriber may have to convert the video to an appropriate format which can be recognized and processed by Youtube or Myspace (and from this we can gauge the relevance of erp software solutions as employed by these social media sites to run their online content and encoding formats). In this respect, Youtube is a step ahead of the other competitors since fortunately it lists a wide selection of formats which enable the subscriber to upload the majority of the known file types, from Avi. To MP-4.among many others.  Therefore it is due to this very factor, which takes into consideration the Internet skill levels across the wide spectrum of users around the world, which is prompting vendors of erp software solutions like SAGE, SAP and their partners (as well as businesses from multiple industries) to use every available Internet tool and every social media outlet on the market so as to reach as many new customers as possible.
