The Most Important Types of ERP Software Systems on the Market  (PART I)

The top ERP software systems on the market all generally share the same characteristics. It would be more proper, therefore, to outline the general history of the creation of ERP software systems and identify firstly, the major ERP companies which developed the first prototypes during the early stages of the Internet technology era. Included in this overview will also be the important collaboration with other important catalysts in the development of these software, and the various vendors which acquired or improved on the original versions.

In the implementation of marketing strategies, within the ERP industry it is widely recognized that a general outline of the leading nations that participate in ERP implementation and global deployment, is also required in order to correctly assess which countries exhibit the highest level of progress and advancement in ERP technology, and consequently possess the greatest market presence in the ERP global arena. Further important issues which normally need to be emphasized, include the relevant and significant impacts that these leading ERP nations have had on the promotion and development of ERP software systems and IT technological innovation -and in sponsoring the application of ERP technology on a wider scale; within diverse industries and Internet technology sectors.

The History of Unicode

Unicode is one of the earliest, and the most important among the various types of ERP software systems in the history of the information technology industry. Thanks primarily to its sponsorship and collaborative development by some of the top IT consulting companies in the world today, it became of predominant use in the standardization process of company functions and global market expansion.

The origins of Unicode date back to the early beginnings of the information technology era; it was one of the first integrating programs unifying different multilingual language character sets into standardized international codes, which could be easily recognized and applied by the encoding formats of the various individual IT businesses operating from different nations during the growing years of information technology.

The development of Unicode began in 1987. It involved the collaboration between the Xerox and Apple, which back then were two of the major high-tech information technology companies on the scene. The three individuals originally responsible for the theoretical elaboration and the subsequent progressive and practical applications of Unicode are Joe Becker from Xerox, and Mark Davis and Lee Collins of Apple. They brought together the collaborative expertise of different information technology and high-tech companies, consulting firms and affiliated individual researchers, in a tentative effort to lay the foundations for a universal character and text encoding system that would encompass as many possible language character sets from different languages.
