The Use of ERP Software Systems in the Video-Game Industry (PART I) Among the diverse businesses which gain the greatest benefits by adopting video games based on ERP software systems technology, the military and police departments, as well as the biotechnological sector as applied to medical science especially, are some of the most important. The military/industrial complex -another major presence in the global markets- and also police training facilities, obviously derive great advantages from employing warfare simulation video games for training purposes.
For the Biomedical industry, this is a vital feature in its patient diagnosis procedures- and to be employed in its laboratory testing facilities to simulate medical diagnoses along with their respective medical operations (whether of surgical or local nature), test potential new cures and vaccines along with other essential medical solutions; all in collaboration with affiliated partners ranging from academic research laboratories to pharmaceutical companies and R&D organizations, including many other various entities in the medical industry.
As is typical nowadays, other fields of industry around the world employ similar methods for training purposes. All are based on simulation software and video games in particular, to stimulate also the interest and appeal of such a technique among the workforce, as well as the enjoyment of the employees. For the most part, these businesses employ ERP software systems for their customized video games in what has become known as the process of “gamification” of the internal corporate structure of the company and its employee/customer and manager/employee relationships. For obvious reasons, the use of ERP software systems is widespread among multiple industries, and this is especially the case for those businesses operating in the software industry.
Interestingly enough, thanks to the implementation of ERP software systems in video-game technology, a recent trend has been developing which is transforming the nature of the relationship between the workforce and their employers and attests to the influence of the video game software industry on the workplace. Moreover, such games are not only used for training courses, but also in government departments; academic institutions and universities; by private individuals in the general business workplace; in classrooms and virtually every field of study or career.
Basically, the progressive global interchange of market data information in the IT market today appears to be leading to the transformation of ERP software companies from a position of “seller” to a state of “buyer,” switching position depending on the circumstances. In this model, the ERP implementation and deployment system is viewed as being responsible for creating the conditions for a mutual purchase of goods and services between ERP software vendors and their clients.
