The Use of ERP Software Systems in the Video-Game Industry (PART III)Examples of Businesses from Different Industries Deploying ERP-based Video Games In Their Company Functions For Multiple Purposes
Clearly, no matter what business sector field of industry a company is involved in, from the great economic blocs of Southeast Asia to the Western industrial powers, all must recognize the necessity of adapting to the requirements of the modern technological era we live in. This necessitates a broadening of horizons for corporate enterprises, and a more serious approach on their part to the implementation of online database platforms such as those provided by ERP software systems.
The video game industry, for one, is playing a large part in unifying ERP online applications with customized games, that are aimed at enhancing the technological base of companies and their related products coming from multiple industries and from the most diverse business sectors.
In fact, the three major franchises mentioned in part I of this article, which utilize video games for multiple purposes, originate from the most diverse industries. They are Siemens, Hilton, and one of the major ERP software systems vendors in the globe: SAP. However, despite the different character of their respective fields: a high-tech/manufacturing company, one of the top chains of hotels in the world, and one of the giant companies among the ERP system providers- the fact remains that they all employ ERP software systems in the process of “gamification” (as the process has come to be termed) of their internal relations between employees and managers and in order to stimulate and improve interaction with customers.
But also of significant interest, is the idea that introducing elements of gamification into a company's infrastructures through the use of ERP software systems, is meant to make the environment more enjoyable and heighten the morale for all the multiple parties involved; from the company executives, to their employees and their respective customers or business clients. For instance, in the case of Hilton's Embassy Suites employing video games for guest use, this was found to attract the interest of a larger clientele. It consequently resulted in higher profits, and increased customer loyalty and frequency of guest-stay. On top of that, such a situation also ensures the creation of a potentially stable, durable and pleasant environment that can efficiently meet the needs of the customers by monitoring in real-time any changes in customer preference.
In support of this assertion, another strategy of this successful marketing campaign was that it enabled guests to utilize vide game technology to interact with the staff and the company as a whole, improving a company’s potential to gauge customer preference and its level of variability, and adapt as the circumstances require.
