ERP SoftwareDistribution ERP Software: worth the investment?
Is distribution ERP software worth the investment? Almost any business
person knowledgeable on the subject is likely to answer yes to that
question. But why? Companies have a lot riding on the ability to get
their product to their customer in an economical efficient way. Profits
are, of course, affected by achieving on time, accurate orders to the
customer and ultimately on the return and referral business that grows
an organization. Forward looking businesses look to tools like distribution ERP software
to maximize the efficiency of their distribution processes and lower the
cost of doing business across the board. Keeping the all business
processes as lean as possible has become the credo of today’s best
practices. Minimize overhead, increase transparency and partner with the
customer to add to the bottom line. Distribution ERP software is a tool by which all of these things can be
accomplished. Historically, the distribution process has been a “fatty”
endeavor. Getting the product to market, logistics and transportation
have long been in dire need of process improvements. Too many times,
orders can slip through the cracks, be misplaced, mislabeled, shipped
incorrectly preventing payment, alienating customers, creating customer
service issues and over-extending personnel; all cost an organization
money in one form or another. A robust distribution ERP software system can be a significant conduit
of successful distribution. Departments need to talk to one and other,
to share information; an enterprise is a group effort. With
distribution ERP software, data is shared. Delivery details, customer
information, billing information, shipping instructions, etc. are
shared, keeping everyone on the same page. In addition to internal systems talking to each other, it is also
possible for outside systems to interface with carriers, automatically
shipping items sometimes as they roll off the line. Billing can be
generated simultaneously keeping cash flow dynamic. Distribution ERP
software can be configured to work with accounting to electronically pay
invoices with frequent customer and be linked to customized web pages
that allow the customer to check order and delivery status and account
details, stock and so on. To answer the question as to whether distribution ERP software is a good investment, that answer would be a resounding yes once a company grows to the point of being able to afford a viable product to fit their needs. When a company grows to the point of being able to afford distribution ERP software, it can also be said that they cannot afford to be without it.ibution ERP Software: worth the investment? |
