Distribution ERP Software Training, Don’t Go Live Without It

Distribution ERP software is a valuable tool available to streamline processes and increase profits in today’s marketplace. It allows business to distribute its products and/or services with the greater efficiency cutting distribution costs and keeping them in line with the lean business practices of today. Distribution ERP software that can truly make more of less if used well. In order to use this new tool best and get the most value from the dollars invested in implementing a new system, training is not a luxury it is a necessity.

After having made the capital investment needed to adopt the use of new distribution it does not make any sort of sound business sense NOT to re-visit distribution business practices and incorporate them in to the use new software.  Consequently, without adequate training, new software is useless no matter which one it is and regardless of all the work of re-vamping inefficient processes.

Often, the same business analysts who have worked to streamline current business practices in line with the new system implementation are the most logical and qualified people to conduct the training.  Indeed, training is frequently a part of a business analyst’s job description.  If this is not the case within an organization, training can be planned at the point of product selection negotiations.

When negotiating for purchase of the product, training is a significant value-add that many vendors are willing to write in to the agreement. In dollars and cents, this can be HUGE both in the literal and figurative senses.  Training is not an option, no matter how good the tool is, if end-users do not know how to use it and make the most of it, distribution ERP software will not yield gains but will even COST a company in terms of initial investment, down time and productivity.

Training is a win for the forward thinking company that purchases distribution ERP software. Whether it is handled internally, electronically (via webinar) or treated as the team building experience that it can be, it pays to train. Statistically, investment dollars devoted to training generally yield generous returns from by staff enrichment and profit margins.  Time is money and distribution ERP software is not an application to be learned by trial and error.

So whether a company chooses external consultants, business analysts or trained power users within its organization, adequate training is imperative to realizing a successful rollout of distribution ERP software, a core investment.
