ERP SoftwareAccounting ERP Software can be the Lynchpin of Smooth Business TransactionsWhen shopping for accounting ERP software, a company is looking for the conduit for smooth business transactions. Accounting ERP software links all aspects of business from the forecaster to the planner to supply chain to production, distribution and logistics to accounts receivable and payable. This software is the avenue via which business transactions must travel. Getting the right tool, having it properly configured to support best practices and providing adequate training and support to end users is key. There are many accounting ERP software packages on the market. Some are better suited to a manufacturing environment while others do a better job in healthcare or other service-oriented businesses. If assembly lines lie at the heart of a business, the business software chosen should be good at driving that kind of operation while including accounting ERP software as a part of that package. Business size is also a factor. A small business is often interested in forecasts and projections, five year plans and so on and there are accounting ERP software products available specifically for that market. Just remember, business is business and basic principles remain the same, it’s just a matter of scale. It is simply a matter of how well accounting ERP software works in a business environment. Accounting ERP software is flexible and customizable. How much is specific to each product. If a company is looking for an ERP accounting software that can follow a product lifecycle from idea all the way through to delivery and eventual obsolescence, a bigger package or additional modules may be the answer. On the other hand, a small company may not need all those bells and whistles at present. For them a more limited, less expensive tool may work quite well but the expandability of less expensive accounting ERP software should be factored in to avoid outgrowing a product too quickly. I.e. can the product handled planned or unexpected growth and factor that in to total cost of ownership. Consider maintenance costs and technical support. These are negotiable points and can represent significant value adds. Training for the end-users is essential and can often be rolled in to a negotiated package. With accounting ERP software training, support, maintenance and service should weigh heavily in the decision. Accounting ERP software is a tool to help run a business and not the business itself. As such, ease of use and reliability are of utmost importance. |
