It’s online, it’s hosted, it’s on-demand, it’s Web (Enterprise Resource Planning) ERP. And it’s very popular with small businesses that now have the opportunity to experience and explore enterprise software online; and they are, in great numbers. Many small companies cannot afford to deploy ERP as an in-house installed option; that’s much too expensive. However they can take advantage of the more easily accessible and less expensive Web-based approach. And it has been reported that the return on investment (ROI) for them has been very good. The online version of enterprise software has taken off in a big way and represents today, the biggest market for the ERP. 

The price is definitely right and there are alternatives. There are commercial versions of ERP and there is open source ERP.  And the open source crowd has established some market share with their enterprise software offerings. Open source software comes in different versions, too. While you may be able to get the code for free, you will have to have someone in-house who is adept at working with the source code and manipulating it to your personal preferences. You can also purchase a license for a proprietary version of the software that comes with service and support.

Small businesses who work with small staffs will also appreciate that because of its nature - this software system can be run and managed by just a few people. This makes it easier and handy for staff to access all of the information and data they need; and they can do this in a real time environment.

Small businesses are enthused by the fact that they can move from out of the box software and make the transition to ERP online. And the changes it will bring about will be very noticeable and they will come quick.
