ERP SoftwareDemo ERP firstLet’s imagine that you’re a small business in a unique position to experience Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for the first time. You’ve about it; you’ve talked about it, you’ve read about it too. You always thought it was something that only large corporations could afford to deploy. Then too, you were a little skeptical, because you have heard some of the stories about implementation problems and failures when the system was installed at some companies. But, now things have changed and you have the opportunity to implement the software in your business. There is a Web-based ERP software system available to you; but first you want to demo ERP. That’s a smart move. Online, hosted, software as a service is here and it has been embraced by small and midsized businesses. The reception has been so good, in fact, that the Web-based option has become the most popular ERP market today. There are a lot of software vendors active in the online arena, some traditional software operations and some open source. So there is definitely some flexibility in the marketplace. But it is up to you to find out about it. There are a number of ways to do that. You could hire a consultant; you could talk to others that have implemented the software; you can contact software vendors on your own; first though, you need to educate yourself. A Web-based enterprise software setup is easy to implement, but you still have to find the best solution for your business. And that’s the catch. This software system has become very popular and as a result, new software vendors are joining the fray, every day, offering yet another solution to the enterprise mix. That’s all the more reason why you need to demo ERP. It’s in your best interests to find out all you can about the software and about the vendor. Those can be time consuming, but not if you do proper research and ask the right questions. But even more important, you must first know what your requirements are; what things do you need a solution for. Once you determine what your needs are, you will be in a better position to evaluate software vendors and they will be in a better position to service you because they will have a good idea of what you’re looking for. Just remember, with this software one size does not fit all. So take the necessary time to demo ERP and find a package, as well as a vendor, that works for you. |
