Doing it with Open ERP
As Enterprise Resource Planning and its use continues to grow - more small companies are learning what this software is all about. The cost-effective means of implementing this software has made it increasingly accessible to small business firms; some of which are wondering what took them so long to take the plunge. The reason for such excitement is because small business can operate more efficiently and grow their business with smarter management tools supplied with hosted, open ERP. Open source enterprise software is competitive in the today’s marketplace. It is grabbing its share of the pie by offering platform options to small businesses.
Traditional deployment of ERP is still something mostly large multi-localized corporations undertake. It’s a cost-consuming, time-taking endeavor that can be frustrating in implementing. Web-based, hosted ERP may not offer the full-fledged in-house performance that on-site installment offers, but for small businesses it’s a big step in the right direction. And it gets them out of boxed software that is limited in its ability to affect change.
Some companies, both large and small, are doing a hybrid thing, by combining the two approaches. But most small companies are happy with their online, on-demand service. All of the applications you want are provided and they are integrated. The whole system is automated as well, so that a business can process business tasks much quicker. And you leverage Open ERP by the version of software selected. If your business has people who are technically inclined, then you may want to go with a freebie set up, which offers nothing but the code. Other alternatives include paying for the code plus some assistance in using it, or purchasing or licensing a more robust proprietary system with full support.
So, with Web-based ERP you get alternatives within the options; On-demand hosted commercial enterprise software or, the same, but with the open source touch. And if you’re interested in open source software, there is plenty of it to choose from. As is always the case, you will have to determine what your needs are and the best solution for addressing them. Then you will have to find an open source vendor that has what you’re looking for and which is agreeable to work with.
Just keep in mind, that if you’re working on a tight budget, and you are interested in open ERP source code only, to make sure that you have the technical support necessary, already in-house.
