ERP SoftwareAccounting ERPTo run properly, all businesses need an accounting department or, at the very least, an accountant. In the age of computers and modern technology, it would be almost foolish to attempt to run a company without the assistance that proper accounting software can provide to that department or lone CPA. There are many levels of accounting software available on the market –from the very simple to the very complex. The most complex and multifaceted of these business accounting software programs are most usually included as a part of a more far-reaching suite of software known as enterprise resource planning or ERP. When referring to their ERP software systems, many businesses tend to refer to it as accounting software. And, it is true that every ERP software system incorporates some accounting functionality, yet this does not mean that there are not some major differences between the two. The term ERP was first coined to describe MRP-II software systems that had been designed to include engineering, finance, management, and human resources to the systems that were already managing demand and ordering. Accounting is one of the various modules that can be integrated into these ERP systems. Generally speaking, the goal of accounting is to keep track of overall business dealings as well as day to day financial activity. Careful, concise accounting provides an accurate trail of all that occurs in a company -from a financial perspective. Knowledgeable people are able to look at accounting reports and be instantly informed. The data will reveal the amount the company owes, how much is owed to the company, what taxes need to be paid, and so on. These are the most basic need s that accounting can supply. An ERP module can do this and much more. Accounting ERP software modules can offer these and other more specialized accounting and management tools in one system. Accounting ERP helps companies to also print invoices, track expenses, receive payments, and manage product or services. Even more important, however, accounting ERP helps companies when they get to the level where they want to do more than be able to be aware of the accurate numerical trail of their financial activity, and then react to it. Eventually, companies reach a moment when they want to actually manage their finances. This is the real benefit of accounting erp. This benefit is so notable that a large majority of CIO’s surveyed answered that their ERP was used mainly for accounting and financial applications. |
