ERP SolutionsWeb Based ERP SolutionsCompanies that can succeed against the competition in this economy are companies that formulate a clear vision of their goals for the future. These successful companies tend to have a proactive management style, and a firm commitment to making the business the strongest it can be at every level. For this to work, however, every aspect of the business must operate at peak efficiency. Enterprise Resource Planning, usually seen as ERP, is an application system of software –initially used just in the manufacturing industry- that brings together and manages the business processes and activities that occur in various departments of a company. Centralizing procedures and data in this fashion creates a more effective business able to cut costs and increase profits. The technology behind ERP has continued to evolve and one of the newest advances is termed Web Based ERP Solutions. Web based ERP software solutions are basically open source ERP systems suitable for Small and Medium sized business. These solutions differ from traditional ERP systems because web ERP does not require customers to buy licenses, install servers, implement the software, or pay maintenance fees. This is key for smaller sized companies that want an ERP system, but cannot afford the costs of purchasing or implementing a conventional system. With Web Based ERP Solutions, the server is located with the vendor and the customer uses the application through the internet. The reward of using this type of ERP solution is the remote access provided with a password from any computer anywhere in the world. Communication tends to be quick and efficient. Managers and employees in other locations can easily exchange data with the company. Another great advantage that web based ERP has over a server based solution is the speed with which real-time data can be viewed by all interested parties, thus allowing for their decisions to be made with the most updated data. The ability to tap into the company data quickly also assists with communication. Employees are able to serve customers faster and with more information. Not only customer orders, but customer complaints and customer requests can be handled accurately and efficiently leaving the customer with a more satisfied feeling about the company's responsiveness and policies. One last benefit often mentioned by businesses that use Web based ERP is the fact that, unlike customary software solutions where the user is responsible for keeping a system current, all upgrades to the software are taken care of by the service provider. |
